Energy Efficient Green Grilling

TEC builds the most energy efficient, environmentally clean grills today.

Grills are one of the most energy inefficient appliances made today, and the advertising used to promote them proves this. Many appliances and grill manufacturers actually boast of burners that require a high BTU/hr input, which is like bragging about a car that gets bad gas mileage. Still, consumers have come to believe that the more BTU/hr a grill or other appliance consumes, the higher the temperature of the heat it produces. This is obviously not true.

BTU/hr is a measurement of the maximum amount of fuel a burner is capable of consuming. It is no indication of how hot a burner can operate. A burner that is energy efficient, that has a lower BTU/hr input, may be capable of reaching higher temperatures than an inefficient burner that consumes large amounts of fuel.

The energy efficiency of a grill or any other gas powered appliance is measured not only by the energy that it consumes (the BTU/hr input) but by the temperature of the heat that it is capable of producing and the time that it takes to deliver the energy to the food. In other words, the energy efficiency of a grill is determined by how much fuel it consumes in the time that it takes to cook the food.

TEC grills are the most energy efficient, environmentally clean grills manufactured today. They are not only capable of reaching higher temperatures than other grills while using less fuel, they cook food faster. In fact, laboratory tests indicate that TEC grills cook food more than twice as fast as traditional convection grills and with less fuel input per unit area of cooking grid surface. The result is an energy savings of more than 50%.

But what does energy efficiency have to do with protecting our environment? When any gas powered equipment is in operation, fuel is burned, and as a result, carbon dioxide (CO2) and oxides of nitrogen (NOx) are emitted. CO2 has been associated by some scientists with global warming, and NOx are directly linked to acid rain and smog. The only way to reduce these emissions is to reduce fuel consumption. Because the volume of CO2 and NOx emitted by a burner is directly proportionate to the amount of fuel it consumes, TEC grills not only reduce fuel consumption but also reduce these emissions by more than 50%.
